Crusader Kings III: Roads to Power
About
The glory and power of the Byzantine Empire are under your command in this Grand Expansion of Crusader Kings III. The unique policies and cultures of the heir of the Roman Empire are showcased through a new government system, new ways for characters to progress within the social hierarchy, and new activities for them. You can also explore an exciting new lifestyle as a landless Adventurer, seeking fame and glory on a living map of the medieval world.
-
Administrative Government: experience medieval governance outside the feudal system with a new style of empire management. A network of Governors competes for position within the empire using intrigue and power, sometimes rewarding merit and at other times, deceit. Only a truly skilled Emperor can keep these competing forces in check.
-
The Family Estate: manage and oversee a powerful Family Estate, the seat of your House's power even when you have no other lands. Undertake new constructions and improvements to increase your power and influence within an administrative empire.
-
Influence System: develop a character's influence within an administrative empire to rise through the ranks of the bureaucracy. Improve your status in the realm and gain more power. Start as a landless noble in an estate and compete for valuable provinces to govern before pursuing the Purples.
- A Life of Adventure: traverse the map freely, unbound from any kingdom or estate, going where the winds of fortune take you. Fulfill contracts as a landless adventurer, even across generations, building your own reputation. Earn gold, prestige, and fame by traveling the world until you choose to settle down and claim a land you have earned by merit.
-
Choose a Successor or Caesar: use the influence you've gathered to steer the course of the Empire and install the successor you desire, be it a member of the royal family, a powerful noble, a martial hero, or any candidate you can garner support for. The Emperor can also share leadership if the burden of the throne proves too heavy for one person.
-
New Byzantine Content: new events, monuments, and activities created with a Byzantine theme, including chariot races.
- Cosmetic Additions: a Byzantine-themed UI and new courtly attire for your characters, new 2D event art, new monuments on the Byzantine world map, new estate designs on the map, and a Byzantine throne room for Royal Court sessions, among other aesthetic improvements. New music inspired by sacred Orthodox chants is also included.
