Sons of Valhalla combines side-scrolling combat and base-building strategy in a beautiful pixel art world set in the Viking Age. You are in command of Thorald Olavson, a warrior determined to find the jarl who burned his home, stole his beloved and fled to distant England.

However, you will not be able to achieve victory alone in these unknown lands. To do this, you will need a band of warriors and a fortress from which you can begin your quests and conquests. Build and fortify your fortress to generate resources while personally leading your warriors in battles against your enemies and in the sieges of their settlements.

BUILDING STRATEGY BASES:

• Building foundations is key to your journey. Develop your cities and directly manage their economy, or plunder neighboring villages to take what you need. Increase your power little by little to challenge the military might of your enemies and enter the countryside to conquer villages, gather resources and attract warriors to your cause.
• Create and upgrade a variety of buildings to generate resources, increase your reserves, or provide your warriors with better training and skills. Grow your villages into powerful forts with well-armed troops and deadly siege engines.
• Fortify your villages to protect yourself from attacks, as the enemy will not stand idly by in the face of your advances. Nearby cities you conquer will become battlegrounds, as they can easily be taken back if not defended.
• Loot nearby settlements if you are not yet ready to completely conquer them. Steal whatever goods you can carry and impede the progress of enemy forces. In this step, take as long as you need to come back stronger and finish annexing an already weakened enemy.
   

TACTICAL COMBAT:

• When your fort is operating and your warriors are ready for battle, it's time for conquest. Lead your men in tactical combat through orders, using their special abilities and formations. But remember: a true warrior leads from the front lines, so get ready to take up your sword and fight alongside your men.
• Recruit a wide variety of troops to fight by your side, from simple swordsmen and archers to stronger and better equipped warriors. The success of your battles will depend on using the right troops for each situation.
• Use orders to face and adapt to any situation. Order your men to follow you or attack the enemy, order a retreat from the fight when the tide of battle turns against you, or form a shield wall and face your enemy like a true Viking.
• Break through the enemy shield wall and eliminate them with your own sword or become a master of the bow and spear to destroy them from a distance. Support your men, protect their retreats, and lead their attacks. After a tough battle, while your warriors regain their strength, you may decide to venture alone into the unexplored lands to find treasure and plunder the enemy.
   

SIEGE WARFARE:

• Siege engines are necessary to take down the powerful fortresses your enemy builds and to protect your own. Use catapults and battering rams to destroy the gates and walls, and hurry to destroy the trebuchets responsible for the hail of stones that hit your troops.
